Summer school July 1978.
More recent years.
Via a brief encounter with the national Aikido federation, Sensei Jones had
the pleasure of being introduced to Tamura Sensei.
Tamura Sensei, a breath of fresh air in a miasma of politics. Although controlled
to a point by rules and regulations Tamura Sensei represents mentally and physically
a true Aikido. A much loved teacher.
Another brief encounter in Granada, Spain.
Endo Sensei, what beauty, what style and gentle power, and then I found that
he had trained with Tamura Sensei, what more can I say!
There are a myriad more people but I forget their names, but one in particular
comes to mind, Sensei Bob Sherrington. I believe he is still teaching with love
and good heart. We trained many times together.
Sensei Sherrington and I both trained under the auspices of Sensei Ford, for
which I'm sure, we are both more than grateful.
Other teachers and teaching:
Sensei Liam O'Brien, Kyudo, Japanese archery.
A tough discipline to follow but Aikido's weight underside helps draw the powerful
bows. Mr. Jones ungraded, two years study.
Sensei Chris Mansfield, b.k.a. , Iai, Jodo and Kendo, 6th Dan.
Probably the most potent energy force outside Aikido that I have ever experienced.
A strong Buddhist and incredible swordsman. Many hours of training and personal
time, although a student in the Dojo, friend and confidant equal as teachers
in our own right. A great experience.
